Doris Macaw Parrot
Description
Meet Doris Macaw Parrot
Hello, my name is Doris—well, I just recently found out I’m actually a MALE MACAW! I’m a stunning Blue and Gold Macaw with a big personality, and I’m now looking for my forever home.
You see, both of my parents have become very busy and are struggling to spend the time with me that I need. That’s why I’m hoping to find a new family that understands me. I’ll need someone who knows about Macaws, and, most importantly, someone who has oodles of patience and love. It may take me a while to come out of my shell, but once I do, you’ll see my true colors!
What I’m Looking For:
I would love a home with a daddy—though I’ll happily accept a mummy and daddy as well. I’m tolerant of other birds, but I’ll need supervision when I’m around them, as I can get a little territorial.
My Personality:
I’m very clever and I adore my toys. In fact, I get really defensive of them. If anyone tries to move or remove my toys, I’ll get a little feisty, and I might even try to attack my safehouse mum (sorry, mum, it’s just how I roll). I haven’t quite figured out that my toys get swapped once a week, so I will fight to keep them. But when I’m in the mood to play, I’ll offer you my foot—only to try and bite you once you take it. I think it’s hilarious! 😜
I also have a wide vocal range, and I’m VERY noisy. I like to screech to make sure everyone gets up on time. I’ll also let you know when new people come to visit. But hey, it’s all part of my charm! I love to sing and dance with my safehouse mum and will happily do a little dance on top of my cage. And when the music’s on, I’ll chatter away in the best mood!
Diet and Care:
I’ll eat just about anything—I’m not picky at all! Right now, I’m on a mixed diet (seeds mix and chop), which I absolutely adore to forage through. I love most fruits and veggies, and I’ll even peel grapes before munching them. I’d love for my new home to offer me chop too. I get super excited when I know it’s chop time!
What I Need:
What I need most of all is a quiet home with someone around for most of the day. I need people who understand that I’m scared—this will be my third home, and I’m really hoping I can finally settle down and find my forever family.
So, do you have the time and patience to help me feel safe and loved in my new home? I’m ready to make that big step and settle in with a kind-hearted person or family who understands me.
With all my macaw love, Doris (the male macaw) 🦜
