Hello there,

My name is Darcy, and I’m an adorable Ducorps Cockatoo with a passion for dancing! 💃 I was named after the graceful ballerina and Strictly judge, Darcey Bussell, and if you look closely, you’ll see why—my wing feathers resemble a delicate tutu!

A Special Bird with Special Needs

I won’t sugarcoat it—I am a complex and high-maintenance bird who needs an experienced, dedicated human. When I first came to Birdline, I had suffered from severe zinc poisoning and needed multiple hospitalizations for chelation therapy, plucking a blood feather, and even self-mutilation. As a result, I am severely plucked on my back and front.

The good news? I have grown enough flight feathers to fly a little, which has boosted my confidence, and I haven’t mutilated since! However, I will require ongoing treatment, including:
✅ Daily medication
✅ Bi-annual vet visits
✅ Routine blood checks

Because of this, I need to be rehomed near a qualified avian vet for my continued care.

⌛ Someone Home Most of the Day: Because of my history and ongoing needs, my ideal person would be home the majority of the day to give me the care and attention I require.

🔇 Flat-Friendly: Unlike most Cockatoos, I am not noisy, so I could be a good fit for someone living in a flat or apartment.
